Free Defensible Space Chipping Through Butte County Fire Safe Council

We work with the Butte County Fire Safe Council on grant-funded chipping jobs, and the process is pretty straightforward - homeowners stage their cut piles along the roadway, sign up through the office, and we come out and chip.

The whole point is reducing fuel loads. Ponderosa pine, brush, downed limbs - all of it sitting close to a structure is a real problem in our area. We've seen what happens when fire moves through heavy understory with no separation from a home. Getting that material chipped and gone is one of the most practical steps a property owner can take.

The chipper program isn't just about cleaning up a pile. It's about building actual defensible space - improving road access for emergency vehicles, reducing the continuous fuel path that lets fire travel fast, and making the property safer and easier to manage going forward.
